June 26, 2025 Live from the road

Derby, WA - Fitzroy Crossing, WA

Reported by Atulya Berube, Dhavala Stott, Edgars Ancans, Todor Tokov 215.0 km

We all had an early start today so we could complete our running before our scheduled school visit. The landscape now is dotted with termite mounds and since yesterday we have been seeing baobab trees along our route.

The team continued their run along the Great Northern Highway.

The entire team covered 215km today to Fitzroy Crossing, where they visited Fitzroy Valley District High School.

Today we fought against headwinds.

This is what the women's team looks like as they pass us to reach the starting point of their run.

Despite the easterly wind, in The Lion team each runner completed two 7km sections today, totalling 72km.

As Peace Run supporters on the side of the road, Western Australia's iconic boab trees greeted us.

These trees are truly unique and inspiring.

We are so happy to have the ever cheerful and skillful Abhinandan Willis with us now.

The team hides from the schoolchildren and prepares for a ceremony at Fitzroy Valley District High School.

We arrived at Fitzroy District High School and were welcomed by the deputy principal, David Wheatfill who led us to a group of students who were enthusiastic to hear about the Peace Run.

We had the whole team so the country guessing game was a challenge, but these students were up to it and guessed them all.

We all enjoyed feeling peace in our hearts together.

These girls can't believe we ran 215km today!

After our presentation everyone had their special moment to hold the Peace Torch and then run with us.

"Team, today's work is done, please sit in the vans and go to rest at Fitzroy River Lodge!" says team captain Stacey.
