Toronto - Durham

Reported by Arpan DeAngelo 70.0 km

Our good friends at Annapurna Restaurant in Toronto receive a Certificate of Appreciation from our team, but they deserved much more.

They fed us delicious meals multiple times since we arrived in Toronto two days ago. They also offerd their sincere Canadian hospitality to send us off both nourished and happy.

Salil was first to carry the Peace Torch through the streets of beautiful Toronto.

Modern and classic style buildings combine in this progressive and clean city.

Mahasatya took the torch out of town and enjoyed the wide shoulders of the highways leading east along Lake Ontario.

Our Peace Run van was waiting every two miles or so to service our runners.

Joyous responses to carrying the Torch were offered by quite a few locals who seemed to naturally understand our message and purpose.

These young men were proud to share the torch with us and record the moment with a 'selfie'.

Jagadhata was next to take the torch further down the road.

Arpan also carried the torch on the highways leading east.

This couple offered their wonderful smiles and goodwill and even took a little video of Arpan bringing the torch to them as they waited for the local bus.

We reached a good size town called Pickering, hometown of a good friend of ours, Prabhakar.

At the end of our 70km run today we ran into the town of Durham and met some very enthusiastic children at the Boys and Girls Club there.

She could not wait to get the torch from her older brother.

This yound child was quite proud and happy to carry the torch with Arpan.

Mother and son share the torch after soccer practise.

Keeping the torch high above his head for safety.

Three sisters share the torch with Arpan.

Their mom enjoys sharing the torch with our team and her 'team' as well.

We were welcomed inside the Boys and Girls Club by the young staff members who were curious as to why we were running to their town with the Peace Torch.

After our presentation we answered some questions and shared our ideas with these very thoughtful young adults.

Our team with the staff members and some of the children of the Durham Boys and Girls Club.

Now for some fun as we run with the children around the open field taking turns carrying the Peace Torch.

The kids were all smiles as they led us around the field at a good pace.

Brian, one of the young staff members, leads the way.

Tchad enjoys his turn carrying the torch.

Henry, one of the senior staff members, becomes a 'happy child' once he gets hold of the torch.

We offer our Certificate of Appreciation to Kyle who accepts it on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club. We are so grateful to all the children and staff who so kindly welcomed us to their very nice facility and showed us around afterwards. Krystal, Shanice, Kyle, Henry, Travis, Brian, Tanya and Tchad were quite kind to us and are all doing such a great job with the children there.

Before leaving the Club we got to enjoy a few exciting moments in their game room. A good way to end a long day of life on the road as we try to inspire others to feel and spread peace one person at a time.
