Izumo - Yonago

Izumo Taisha shrine was the starting point for this years Peace Run in Japan. It is one of Japan's most ancient and important shrines. It is a designated World Heritage Site.

島根県の出雲大社が今年の日本のピースランの出発地です。最も古い神社建築で世界文化遺産に登録されています。

安全を祈ってからスタートです

It was a glorious day for running as we headed to our first meeting.

最初の交流地である出雲市役所に向かいます。快晴の気持ちのいい朝です。

Rice fields are everywhere in Japan.

田園がいっぱいです

We were greeted by a large group of enthusiastic workers outside the City Hall in Izumo.

出雲市役所では沢山の職員の方々がハイタッチで出迎えてくれました

They were holding flags from several of the countries that our team members come from.

ピースランチームの外国人ボランティアランナーの出身国の国旗がいくつもありました

This lady is from Finland and was delighted to meet Kagni, our Finnish Peace runner.

フィンランド出身の職員の方は、同じ国から来たランナーと会い喜んでいました

The Mayor of Izumo welcomed us to his city and sent us off with his best wishes for the coming week as we carry the Peace Torch around Japan.

出雲市役所を代表して永瀬市民文化部長から歓迎の言葉をいただき、これから淡路市までの7日間の成功と安全を願ってくれました。

We had a beautiful running route along the water

There were stunning bamboo forests beside the road.

Many friendly locals who we passed were happy to take a moment from their day to hold the torch.

通りすがりのたくさんの方々が喜んで平和のトーチを握ります

Their kind words of encouragement and willingness to offer their own wishes for peace are always heartwarming.

親切な励ましの言葉と、自分たちの平和の願いを込めてもらう時は、いつも心が温まります

At Yonango City Hall we were once again welcomed by many of the workers outside the City Hall.

ゴールの米子市役所では玄関先でまたたくさんの職員の方々がお出迎えしてくれました

A representative of the city received the Torch. She spoke about World Peace being a universal aspiration and gave us her prayers for a successful Peace Run in Japan and a safe journey.

辻総務部長が米子市を代表してトーチを受け取ります。世界の平和は人類普遍の願いであるというお言葉を頂き、日本のピースランの成功と安全を願ってくれました。
