Romania 22 May: Campulung - Rasnov

The beautiful mountains of Transylvania

In Campulung we visit Nanu Muscel school, the first of many school visits today. We may get tired after a long day of running but we never get tired of seeing the vibrant and enthusiastic smiles of the children we meet.

Next stop, Carol 1st School. Smiles all round as the children hold the Peace torch.

Our French runner, Ashcharjya, is delighted to be in the countryside.

We run up the mountains north east of Campalung and the nature is absolutely beautiful. The green valleys and tall peaks create a fairytale landscape.

The team ascends a high mountain in search of a small school.

This school in Fundata happens to be the highest school in Romania. The principle jokes with us that children are very peaceful because they are closer to the peaceful sky!

We are invited to part-take in a Romanian celebratory dance.

The Peace Run presents some funny plays which get a joyful reaction from the children. Sadanand, our Irish runner has just joined the team and is already tackled to the ground by Devashishu, our team captain. Of course it is all just playful drama and joy.

We demonstrate the spirit of Team work.

One of our local coordinators, Luiza, takes pride in carrying the torch in her home nation.

Principal Marius Olteanu of Scoala Gimnaziala Moieciu de Jos runs with us to his school.

The children at the school form the Romanian flag with their colourful t-shirts. Many Romanian flags fly high against the blue sky.

A young girl sings with all her heart.

The forth school of the day was in Bran and the young teenagers had drawn some artwork in preparation for the Peace Runs arrival.

Principal Bogdan Pucheanu receives the torch.

We run by Dracula's castle, that which inspired the famous tale! We hope we can invoke a bit of peaceful energy in this otherwise mysterious place.

Helene makes the boys work hard, they have to keep up the pace to stay with her.

Our last school visit is in Rasnov where many joyful children are waiting in anticipation for us.

The School Principal holds a painting for World Harmony presented by the Peace Run team.

A delightful and colourful plate of cheese lies waiting for the runners to enjoy. The runners look to see if they can find their country flag.

On the way to Rasnov fortress we find this scary guard and he agrees to hold the torch.

The view is exceptional from the top.

Another golden day in Romanian beauty and sunshine.
