Baxter, MN - St. Cloud, MN

Reported by Arpan DeAngelo 65.0 mi

The AmericInn of Baxter was very kind in offering our team four very nice rooms for the night.

Our first stop for the day was the YMCA of nearby Brainerd.

About 40 young children were quite excited as they welcomed us to the entrance of their club.

One of the young boys recognized that Mahasatya was from Poland. The boy had his Poland shirt on and obviously had relatives from Poland.

Holding the imaginery torches high during our song.

Peace in the heart is always successful with the children and very effective as well.

Zach leads the children on a peace run around the YMCA building.

Even the youngest children had fun running for peace around the block.

"Hey, wait for us, we want to walk for peace".

Soulful wishes for peace.

Smiles for miles.

Sincere peace from the children inspires us tremendously.

Gratitude to all the counselors and staff for sharing in our event.

The children show their new Peace Run cards.

A great group of children in Brainerd.

Zach, the Y Program Director, gladly accepts our Certificate of Appreciation for helping us to create this wonderful program with the kids.

Time out for a little lunch.

It looks like Salil (Australia) is enjoying his burrito.

Back on the road carrying the torch to our next location.

Sandro (Italy) enjoys the sunny day in Minnesota.

Mahasatya (Poland) runs strongly as we make our way south towards Minneapolis.

Pavaka gets interviewed by C.W. Bearshield, a native American journalist who stopped to interview some of our runners.

Sandro runs into the ground.

Yatkara runs along a busy road.

This young lad is overwhelmed as he holds the torch with his mom and Yatkara (Ukraine).

Running towards our final ceremony for the day in St. Cloud.

At the YMCA in St. Cloud we were greeted by many excited and curious children.

Some of them made colorful paper torches for us.

Their very creative artwork on the theme of peace decorated the walls of the gymnasium.

We offered our program indoors first.

Pavaka happily raises his colorful torch high.

Skits for the children to demonstrate peaceful behaviour is always a fun part of our presentation.

The counselors got to carry the torch around the gym with the children.

The children passed the torch to make their own wishes for peace and harmony.

Sisters sharing peace.

They finally got to run outdoors with the torch.

A large group of peace-lovers at the St. Cloud YMCA.

Afterwards the children study our route map and get a little geography lesson.

Salil's team runs down the road to get to our final destination.

Yuyudhan, our local coordinator, finishes his run smiling and strong.

Malijanga (Bosnia) fuels up the torch before her run.

The women's team runs strongly to finish up our miles for the day.

Kaneenika (Slovakia) on her last run before having to leave for home. She has been on the team since San Francisco, California in mid-June.

We ended the day at the home of our great local Minnesota coordinator, Yuyudhan Hoppe.

Some of the women decided to weed the rose garden before dinner.

Kaneeneka pulls weeds out from around the special Sri Chinmoy roses, named for the Founder of the Peace Run, Sri Chinmoy.

Pavaka embellishes Clevelands dish, or is it just rug cleaner.

We were offered a great meal from a local Vietnamese Restaurant.

Salil and Yuydhan work on tomorrow's schedule.

We end the evening with a farewell party for Kaneenika who has to return home and get back to work.

She opens her gifts as the other women on the team look on. Our newest member, Anamika from Bengladesh living in New York(Left), looks on.

Please send us a message, we would LOVE to hear from you.

See who is sending us messages.

Thank you Kaneenika for your long month of great service and lots of running for Peace.
