On August 1st 2021, His Majesty Tsar Simeon II hosted the Peace Run team at Tsarska Bistrica Residence, on the occasion of planting the Tree of Peace, Harmony and Friendship.

It was a beautiful sunny morning, in which a team of runners from Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Poland, Ucraine and Germany visited the royal park, where the youngest sapling carring the message of peace grows among centuries-old trees.

His Majesty King Simeon II personally planted the young redwood, the only one of its kind in the park, close to the palace. There is a plaque near the tree that marks its symbol with one of Sri Chinmoy's wonderful aphorisms: "World-peace can be achieved when the power of love replaces the love of power."

After the wonderful speech of Todor Dimitrov, who was part of the running team, and after His Majesty`s inquiry about the next initiatives of the Peace Run, he said with joy:
"Great! I really admire everything I've seen - that there are such things. It is important that there is peace, harmony, that people understand each other, that there is a dialogue so that no one is at war and at the barricades. Apparently this leads to nowhere. Good luck with everything.’’

This will surely remain as a wonderful day for everyone!

The presence of the team created a lot of euphoria and joy for visitors in the park. They gladly held the torch and sent their messages of peace.

This will surely remain as a wonderful day for everyone!

We are grateful to the Royal Family for the wonderful opportunity to share together the ideals for more peaceful and harmonious world!

“Tsarska Bistritsa” is a former palace of the rulers of the Third Bulgarian Kingdom. It is situated close to Borovets in the Rila Mountains. It was built between 1898 and 1914. It has served as a hunting lodge for the kings Ferdinad I and Boris III. The architectural appearance is influenced by the traditional Bulgarian Renaissance style, however alongside that there are visible European architectural influences as well.
Tsarska Bistritsa is an important part of the history of the last Bulgarian royal dynasty. Here, on the 28th of August 1943 Queen Giovanna received the information that her husband, Boris III, is suffering from a mysterious illness. It was here that six-year-old Simeon and nine-year-old Marie-Louise saw their father for the last time.

The palace’s first wing, known as “The Old palace”, was built in 1898. It consists of several rooms, an office and bedrooms. Afterwards two other wings were built with a spacious living room, a dining room and second flour with bedrooms, dressing rooms and an office. At its completion in 1914 it was a whole complex of royal buildings and a beautiful park through which flows Bistritsa Musalenska River.

After 1945 the palace “Tsarska Bistritsa” was nationalized by the new regime in Bulgaria.

After the democratic changes in 1989, “Tsarska Bistritsa” was restituted by Boris III’s son, Simeon II, during his office as Prime Minister of Bulgaria.

Today, the palace is open to visitors.
